About this care

Periodontal Care That Works

Gum disease (periodontitis) is one of the leading causes of tooth loss in adults. The good news: in its early stages (gingivitis), it’s fully reversible with professional cleaning and good home care.

For more advanced cases, we offer scaling and root planing — a deep cleaning below the gum line that helps gums reattach to teeth and prevents further bone loss.

Step by step

What to Expect from Deep Cleaning

01

Numbing & Scaling

We numb the area, then gently remove plaque and tartar from just below the gum line.

02

Root Planing

The root surface is smoothed so it is harder for bacteria to collect there.

03

Arestin® (when recommended)

A prescription antibiotic placed by the dentist into deeper gum pockets, used alongside deep cleaning when it is a good fit for you.

04

Healing & Follow-up

Gums are often tender for a day or two. We check your progress at a follow-up visit and set a cleaning schedule that fits you.
