For after-hours emergencies, leave a detailed message and we’ll respond as quickly as possible. If you’re experiencing severe bleeding, swelling that obstructs breathing, or trauma to the face, go directly to the nearest emergency room.
Step by step
What to Expect When a Broken Tooth Must Come Out
Exam & Numbing
We check the tooth and take an X-ray. If it cannot be saved, we numb the area completely.
Tooth Removed
The broken tooth is gently loosened and removed, keeping the surrounding bone intact.
Bone Graft & Membrane
Bone graft granules fill the socket and a thin collagen membrane covers them. A few stitches hold everything in place.
Healing
The gum closes in a few weeks and new bone fills in over a few months. After healing, the site can be evaluated for an implant or a three-unit bridge.
