About this care

When a Crown Is Recommended

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged tooth, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. Crowns are typically recommended after a root canal, for teeth with large fillings or cracks, or to cover dental implants.

We use porcelain crowns that match the color and translucency of your natural teeth, so they blend in seamlessly.

What to Expect from a Crown

01

Exam & Numbing

We check the tooth and take X-rays, then numb the area so you stay comfortable.

02

Tooth Prepared

Damaged or decayed tooth structure is removed and the tooth is shaped so the crown fits well.

03

Crown Made

We take a scan or impression. Your custom crown is made to match your bite and the color of your teeth. A temporary crown protects the tooth in the meantime when needed.

04

Crown Cemented

At the next visit we check the fit and bite, make small adjustments, and cement the crown in place.
