About this care

How Bridges Work

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth on either side. Crowns are placed on the supporting teeth, with the replacement tooth bonded between them.

Modern bridges look natural, restore chewing function, and prevent neighboring teeth from shifting into the gap.

What to Expect from a Bridge

01

Planning

We check the teeth on each side of the gap and plan the bridge. Sometimes an implant is a better fit; we talk through both.

02

Neighbor Teeth Shaped

The teeth on each side are shaped to hold the bridge. A temporary bridge protects them in the meantime.

03

Bridge Made

A scan or impression is taken and your bridge is made to match your bite and tooth color.

04

Bridge Cemented

We check the fit and bite, then cement the bridge in place. We show you how to clean under it.
