About this care

When Extraction Is the Right Choice

We always try to save a natural tooth when possible. But when a tooth is severely damaged, infected, or impacted, removing it is sometimes the safest path forward — protecting surrounding teeth, gums, and jawbone.

We use modern techniques and local anesthesia to make extractions as comfortable as possible. After healing, we’ll discuss replacement options like implants, bridges, or partials.

What to Expect from an Extraction

01

Numbing

The area is fully numbed. You feel pressure, not pain. Sedation options are available when it is a good fit for you.

02

Tooth Removed

The tooth is gently loosened and removed. We work carefully to protect the bone and gum around it.

03

Bone Graft (when recommended)

Bone-graft material may be placed in the socket to preserve the bone, especially if an implant is planned.

04

Healing

A small stitch may be placed. The gum closes over the first weeks and the bone fills in underneath over the following months.
